About the Artist

Lucille Linville has lived and worked throughout the Pacific Northwest her entire life. Beginning her artistic career as a young child, she grew up making monotypes with her grandmother in the studio, and drawing on anything and everything (including her siblings) outside of the studio.

She has studied a range of disciplines through various institutions across the Northwest including: Southern Oregon University, Portland Community College, Oregon College of Art and Craft, and Portland State University. Her artistic abilities span across a multitude of mediums and practices, and are informed and inspired by the arts, humanities, perception, the environment, and the human experience in general.

Lucille currently works and resides in Washington state. Her recent work focuses on the role of art and play as a therapeutic means of coping with the drastic societal shifts brought on by the pandemic and tempestuous sociopolitical climate.

“As an artist existing in the chaotic modern world, I use my practice as a means of coping with and making sense of the turbulent times we live in. Through my art I aim to explore new ways of deciphering unsettling realities and attempt to decode the emotional responses they elicit by embarking on a visual conversation with the viewers.”
